Walking through a sea of sand in the Sahara. Sand in the form of dunes, as far as you can see. I find the patterns, lines, colours and shapes of sand fascinating. How the wind makes it happen. Occasionally, you see something green sticking out above the sand. Apparently something is growing here too. And I see tracks in the sand. Of an animal. It's alive. You just wonder, of what?
The photo was taken in the desert in Mauritania, in West Africa. Here you hardly encounter people, let alone tourists. The landscape is spectacular. I enjoy the emptiness and the silence. Only the wind can be heard rustling through the dunes. Apart from that, it is quiet and there is nobody. Except for the tracks.
