What do you see here? A man carrying a colourful cargo? Or at the bottom of the image Don Quixote, dressed all in black, his face turned to the left? There are several versions, as everyone seems to see something different in it.
The image consists of photos taken by me in the Netherlands, Switzerland and France. I edited the colours of the individual photos and then parts of them were merged into this collage. In the photos, you might discover drops on a leaf, swirling water in a rapids, black sunflowers, a lit corridor in an underground army site in Verdun and more.
Creating the collage happened without a preconceived plan. I started with the round drop shapes, looked for matching photos selected mainly on colour, drew patterns over them and finally arrived at this composition. The enchanting effect of the colours made me very happy and maybe it is also something for you.
Having written more than 50 children's books, I am now into photography and collage. Drawing, painting, photographing, cutting and creating compositions. So much fun to do! After much experimentation and hard work, I am to the point where I think my collages are good enough.. Read more…
