Together in burgundy red: Two yellow tulips

by Marjolijn van den Berg

This wall decoration: "Samen in bordeauxrood: Twee gele tulpen" is a photograph of two yellow tulips. Both tulips have small red details on the flower, for example on the sides of some of the petals.
These complement the warm burgundy background beautifully.
The two tulips are firmly pressed together and come from a bulb. I picked this tulip in a picking garden in North Holland (the Netherlands). After cleaning the tulips thoroughly, I waited a while for these two tulips to open wider. Because the tulips are stuck together, the flower heads have also come together, creating a loving image.
To me, this photo radiates warmth, love and simplicity. A simple still life of two flowers.
If you zoom in on the photo, you can see that the focus is on the front of the yellow tulip petals. This allows the red details on these leaves to be seen beautifully. The further back you look, the more blurred the photo becomes. This creates a sense of depth in the photo and also gives it a kind of tranquillity. Due to its simplicity and warm colours, this photo can be hung in multiple interior styles and spaces!
