Timeless still life | flowers in vase | Fine Art studio photography by Laura Dijkslag

This still life of a bunch of flowers in a vase was created entirely in my studio and exudes tranquillity, attention and timelessness. I deliberately chose a subdued setting with a soft, dark background so that all attention goes to the flowers themselves. The light falls from the side and brushes past the shapes, subtly emphasising depth, texture and colour. This way of lighting is strongly inspired by the old masters and gives the work a classical, almost painterly look.

In the bouquet, different flowers come together to enhance each other. The soft purple tones of the lisianthus add elegance and sophistication, while the bright blue delphinium is a fresh, light counterpart. The large pink chrysanthemum quietly attracts attention and provides a warm colour accent. Small white flowers bring airiness and connect the whole, while the green of the leaves and berries provide balance and depth. The dark glass vase holds it all together, subtly letting the stems and water shine through.

The mood of this work is calm and hushed. It invites you to pause and look, to discover details you might initially miss. This still life fits beautifully in a classic, rural or modern interior where there is room for tranquillity and refinement. A work for lovers of fine art photography, flowers and timeless compositions, it brings a soft, elegant atmosphere to any room.
