On a sunny day with beautiful cloudy skies, these three Greylag Geese flew by. They stand out beautifully against the blue and white of the Dutch summer sky with clouds. It is lovely to walk through the flat Dutch landscape, and see geese flying just above you. They often fly very low for a moment, as if to warn you "You're getting too close, go somewhere else". In spring, there are many nests along the ditches, in the reeds along the meadows. Geese are very protective, they will never attack you, but they do fly right above you with a lot of noise. A great opportunity to photograph them in flight from a closer distance. In this photo, they keep a sharp eye on me until I eventually move on and am far enough away from them. Actually, the Greylag Goose is quite ordinary, but I find them very special, they are smart, a bit arrogant too, and they live in large groups. When there are young, there are always a few geese who look after the whole group of little ones so that the rest of the adult geese can go swimming and eating. Geese are the inventors of the crèche, great right! A beautiful picture for the wall, showing a lot, in an atmosphere of space and freedom!
