Theodore Earl Butler (1861-1936) was an American Impressionist who lived and worked in France. He was a pupil of Claude Monet and married his stepdaughter Suzanne Hoschedé. Butler was known for his vibrant colours and atmospheric depictions of landscapes, gardens and scenes from Giverny, where he spent many years. His works show a strong influence of French Impressionism, often with an individual, expressive touch.
