Near the town of Kinderdijk in the Netherlands, a large number of windmills (19 of them) stand along the water. These mills drain the adjacent polders and thus ensure that the residents of the polders do not get wet feet. The drainage is also supported by two pumping stations. Kinderdijk is included in the list of World Heritage Sites.
