About ‘The true queen of Oberstdorf’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

A young, hornless cow stands in the vast expanse of the Allgäu Alps, as if listening to the breath of the mountains. The Brown Swiss cow, with its warm hue and calm gaze, reflects the light of the early day in its coat, whilst the alpine meadow around it shimmers in delicate shades of yellow and green. Small flowers nod in the wind, as if to greet the animal, which is as much a part of this landscape as the rock, the grass and the sky.
There is something primal in its quiet presence: a hint of summer, of centuries-old pastoralism, of the deep bond between people, animals and the mountain world. Oberstdorf lies behind the hills, yet up here, only the rhythm of nature matters. The cow lifts its head, the bell rings softly, and for a moment time itself seems to stand still — as if the alpine pasture were uttering a single, gentle word: peace.
