Illustration based on the Grimm brothers' fairy tale "The star-money":
Once upon a time, there was a little girl. Her father and mother had died, and she was so poor that she did not even have a room to live in or a bed to sleep on. She owned nothing except the clothes she was wearing and a piece of bread in her hand, a gift from a compassionate soul. But she had a good heart and was pious. Since everyone else had abandoned her, trusting in the good God, she went out into the world.
One day, she met a needy man who begged, "Please, give me some food. I am so hungry." Without hesitation, she gave him the whole piece of bread and spoke, "May God's blessing be on it," before continuing on her way. Not long after, she met a crying child complaining about the cold on their heads. She took off her own hat and gave it to the child. Further along her journey, another child appeared, shirtless and shivering with cold. Without hesitation, she gave away her own shirt. And as she travelled on, someone asked for her dress, and she took it off without hesitation and gave it away. Eventually she found herself in a vast forest, where the darkness of night had set in. Then someone came to her again and asked for a gown. The pious girl considered: "It is earth-dark night, no one can see anything, I can safely give away my gown," and so she took off her gown and gave it away as well.
There she stood, completely unclothed, and something miraculous happened. Stars began to descend from the sky and turned into shiny silver coins. Even though she had just given away her gown, she suddenly found herself in a new one, made of the finest linen. She collected all the silver coins and became immeasurably rich for the rest of her days.
