View of the impressive snow-capped and high mountain peaks of the Rondane Nasjonal Park in Norway. The park is located in the province of Innlandet in the south-east of the country.
I took the photo after an ascent of Sukkertoppen mountain (northeast of Kvam) at the end of May. With a few degrees above zero and a strong wind howling around the mountains it was cold that day. It even snowed in the morning. But the powerful, desolate environment and the beautiful view completely compensated for the inconveniences. I continuous had the feeling of being in a movie.
The landscape was especially impressive because of its vastness and ruggedness. You can look far and see the conifers and low shrubs interspersed with endless pieces of green-yellow reindeer moss on the rocks. And then of course the beautiful mountain peaks that are in the middle of the Rondane Nasjonal Park. I took the photo at an altitude of more than 1200 meters, but the snow-capped peaks that you see in the photo are at over 2000 meters and tower majestically above the area.
The small road that you see in the photo leads through the Hovdemyra swamp to the Hovdepiggen mountain. From the Sukkertoppen this looks like no more than a small rocky hill, but at 968 meters it is more than that. It is also very worthwhile to take a walk there. Because from there, too, the view of the surrounding landscape is beautiful. The Hovdepiggen also offers a good view of Lake Furusjøen, which you can see on the left of the picture, and of the Frydalen valley, which you can see behind the Hovdepiggen.
I enjoy taking pictures of nature, from colorful flowers to the vast landscapes of Scotland and Norway. Photos of European cities can also be found in my shop. Whatever photos they are, I create them with the idea that they really add atmosphere to your home or workplace... Read more…
