Paul Nieuwendijk made this painting in 2019 following the European elections, which miraculously gave a hopeful result and a united Europe seemed more real.
Now in this terrible uncertain time, Europe seems even more united, which is the miracle.
The painting depicts celebrating hopefuls. They are walking down a street with European flags toward a narrow entrance to a new light. The miracle of Europe appears in the sky. The painting is all over again. The Ukrainian flag now flies bravely along as well.

The miracle of Europe! Not war but peace.
