Golden watch at the mirror of the moor:
The day lies grey and still over the moor pond in the Oberallgäu. The water, deep and impenetrable, acts like a giant mirror, absorbing the cloudy mood of the sky and the muted colours of the autumn forest on the shore. It is a scene of quiet melancholy, typical of the damp, cool days around Oberstdorf.
But right in the foreground, where the moor merges into the pond, a small, intense fire is burning: the dense tuft of pond rush (Schoenoplectus lacustris) has completely transformed into a luminous mass of gold and dark ochre. The stalks are covered in a fine layer of dew or wetness, which makes them shine and gives them an almost metallic texture. They defy the approaching cold and appear like proud sentinels at the water's edge, an anchor of brightness in this otherwise muted landscape of the Allgäu.
Beyond this golden accent, the trees are reflected in the calm surface. You can see the rich shades of autumn - deep fir green, the red-brown of the discoloured leaves and the occasional glimpse of yellow light that seems to rest on the water like oil paintings. It is a moment of tranquillity and a glowing farewell before the approaching winter, captured in the pure, unspoilt nature of the Allgäu moors.
