A beautiful and creative variation on Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, this modern photograph is a wonderful interpretation of the original work and brings it to contemporary times! Using both photo technique, and (digital) painting technique, I created this beautiful portrait. Because paint and photo merge, you can keep looking at this work. Until 1995, Vermeer's original painting was known as Girl with turban. Only at the Mauritshuis did they decide that Girl with a Pearl Earring was a better name. Vincent Icke concluded in 2014 that the earring cannot be a pearl: its mirror reflection, pear shape and size are foreign to a common pearl. After being confronted with the fact that the pearl in the painting is not a pearl, the museum said it did not want to change the name again anyway.
