A girl stares ahead, stroking a white cat on her lap. She looks at an autumnal park, as the leaves slowly fall from the trees. One tree stretches behind her in a row of orange and yellow colours. The white cat purrs quietly on her lap, making it warm.
Would the girl look back on the past year? Cats seem to be messengers between worlds, so maybe the cat on her lap is dreaming of her future. Who knows?
I wanted to create a scene that captures the cosy atmosphere of autumn and the slight melancholy that comes with it. In doing so, the old-fashioned bench also evokes memories of the old days, of a time before the girl existed but the trees were already growing in the park.
The technique I used is that of paper cutting, which means that the image is built up from pieces of coloured paper. This gives the whole thing a graphic look.
For people who love colour and for cat lovers, this is a great addition to their interiors.
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
