As if to compensate for the sometimes gloomy weather, the Icelanders paint the corrugated metal of their homes in all colors of the rainbow. Restrictive legislation does not seem to exist; which leads to a unique city palette, as shown in this image, looking down from Hallgrimskirkja. The center of Reykjavik, by the way, is also probably the only place in Iceland where trees become so high.
