About "The cathedral of religions"

by Gerhard Höberth

About the artwork

The Cathedral of Religions is a university on a planet in the Pleiades star cluster where all the religions of the galaxy are archived and categorized.

It was founded by an alien race known as "The Ones" who have been observing humans for thousands of years. The Ones were fascinated by human culture and religion and wanted to learn more about us, both as individuals and as a species.

So they built a huge structure where every religion could be stored and studied. They also created a series of programs to teach humans and other inhabitants of the galaxy about themselves, including:

- A course on comparative religion, in which students learn about all the major religions of the galaxy (and many smaller ones).

- A course on the history of religion, covering all the major religions from their beginnings to the present.

- A seminar on theology in which students learn to think critically about religion and its role in life.

- A course on designing coherent religions to experience the inner structure of a consistent worldview.
