The bow cuts through the water, the bulb is just visible in the clear water. The fog on the horizon swallowing up the sail of a ship.
The cargo ships still at sea outside the piers. The bow cutting through the waves on this calm day. The Dutch flag in the mast means that the ship is calling at a Dutch port where her cargo is waiting in the harbor. Which port is it that the ship is entering. The coast is in sight the coastline is taking shape. The piers of IJmuiden and Wijk aan Zee are in sight. In a moment the ship will be moored at the quay and the pilot will disembark.
Raw and the port as it is, the people who work there. I like to photograph the images I see there because it is art in itself. The harbor is a different world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships, the people and the landscape continue to fascinate me.
