Sil's little harbour near De Cocksdorp (Texel, Netherlands) owes its name to Sil Boon who was the skipper of De Vriendschap between Texel and Vlieland for many years.
In 1994, he single-handedly started the construction of the small harbour in the outflow of De Cocksdorp's pumping station. He thus reshaped the old harbour, which had been there until 1966, but disappeared when the dyke was reinforced.
During our stay on Texel (one of the Wadden Islands), we were keen to photograph a beautiful sunrise at this photogenic spot. On the last day of our stay, the weather was finally supposed to improve. The alarm went off early, but unfortunately it was raining for a few hours by then. Since we were awake anyway, we took the gamble to go anyway. And thankfully it was not for nothing. We were first treated to a beautiful blue hour and then a beautiful sunrise ( see photo Magical morning)
Nice soothing image for the true Texel lover, or lover of a soothing picture on the wall in fine shades of blue.
