The Evoluon in Eindhoven was 'offered' to the city of Eindhoven in 1966 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Philips. From 1966 to 1989 Philips used it as an "educational technology museum" which attracted many visitors. Since the museum only cost money for Philips, it was decided in 1989 to pull the plug and the public function of the building was taken away. From 1996 it became a convention center and the Evoluon was occasionally reopened to the public.
The Evoluon is locally also called the "Strijpse Tiet" (the booby of Strijp), after the shape and the district (Strijp) where the Evoluon is located. The photo was taken at sunset, but still gives more of an image of dawn. Together with the nickname, this gives the title "The awakening of a woman".
As a city photographer in Eindhoven, I am constantly recording the transformation of the city. In this way I constantly come up with new images of the city.
