The Haaksbergerveen, over 600 hectares, is one of the most beautiful high moor areas in the Netherlands. Raised peat is a rare type of soil, which is only found in a few places in our country. This attractive area is located on the south side of Haaksbergen against the German border.
Swampy high moors and wide moors, interspersed with bushes and grasslands. In the distance a flock of sheep is grazing. Frogs croak in a hidden pool. The reed bunting sings in a reed collar. An awakening adder warms up in the morning sun. Sundew, sphagnum moss and wool grass grows everywhere. Dragonflies and mosquitoes attract tree falcons.
