A grand piano, also called concert grand piano or grand piano, is a percussion, keyboard and stringed instrument with horizontally stretched strings, which is played via a keyboard. The hammers hit the strings from below. On a piano (also called a buffet piano) the strings are attached vertically, and the hammers hit the strings from the side. With 88 keys, the key range of the grand piano is usually equal to that of the piano; older pre-war models often see 85 keys, and some modern grand pianos have the bass extended with additional keys.
