About ‘The Weight of Being Awake’ by Fabio Luxia

The owl faces the viewer directly, breaking the comfort of observation and replacing it with confrontation. Its wide-open eyes suggest complete awareness, while the exploding ink around its feathers implies the fragmentation of thought.

The lack of environmental context removes any narrative safety. The owl exists only as awareness itself, suspended in a void where perception has no anchor.

The splattered ink represents thoughts that cannot stabilize, ideas forming and collapsing simultaneously. The image conveys mental exhaustion born from constant observation and analysis.

This artwork portrays consciousness not as enlightenment, but as burden. To be awake is to continuously process reality without the relief of ignorance or illusion.

The owl becomes a symbol of existential fatigue, the cost of seeing too much, understanding too deeply, and never fully escaping one’s own perception.
