In 1880, French watercolourist, engraver and illustrator Hector Giacomelli (1822-1904) painted his "A Perch of Birds", a collection of colourful and cheerful birds in a row.
I combined his birds in 2023 with the watercolour "The River Severn at Shrewsbury, Shropshire", painted in 1770 by English landscape painter Paul Sandby (1731-1809).
I produced a vista in a wall, a wide view through a window without glass. As if nature and summer were a stone's throw away, a sense of freedom!
