Val d'Orcia is best known for its beautiful landscape with hills covered with vineyards, cypresses, wheat fields and farms or small villages on top.
The Val d'Orcia is one of the most beautiful regions of Tuscany. The area with its beautiful landscape is located south of Siena. Val d'Orcia has even been recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2004.
The region is named after the river Orcia, which flows through the area. To the south, the region is bordered by the extinct volcano Monte Amiata.
The area is also home to beautiful towns and villages such as Pienza, Montalcino, Radicofani, Castiglion d'Orcia, Monticchiello, San Quirico d'Orcia, Torrenieri and Bagno Vignoni. I took the photo on an early morning with lots of atmosphere due to the wisps of fog in the valley.
