Two ladies. Two swimming costumes. One ironclad look.
In this surrealist painting, two elderly women, almost identical, stand in 1950s swimming costumes on an abandoned railway line in the desert. Their red cat-eye sunglasses, floral bathing caps and stern posture give the image a touch of humour, but also a quiet tension.
Inspired by the work of Magritte and Gregory Crewdson, this artwork exudes alienation, timelessness and character.
They stand close together, yet there is distance.
