Shrouded in a dense haze, the rest of the world seems completely cut away. The monochrome hues of mist and water create a void, an immense space in which only a few isolated trees are left behind. They stand there, on a small headland, alone with their own blurred, mirrored image in the still water. The reflection reinforces the sense of isolation.
This picture is more than just an image and text; it is a representation of the inner struggle that comes with loneliness. The placement of each word is deliberately chosen and emphasises the depth of this emotion.
- "Loneliness" is prominently placed on the mainland, an acknowledgement of how pervasive this feeling is in our society.
- The words "hurts" are located on the border of land and water, the dividing line where the pain is just barely tangible and visible to the outside world.
- The deepest, most tearing pain - "tears you up inside" - is deliberately set in the reflection of the water. This symbolises the invisible, misunderstood, inner suffering that takes place in the depths of the soul - a pain that the outside world does not see.
- This is underlined by the words "invisible to the outside world".
- The concluding word "alone" encompasses the whole experience and sums up the essence of loneliness.
I wrote the text in this picture myself. It is the voice of what often remains silent: a penetrating message about a pain that tears you up inside, but often remains hidden on the outside. It offers the viewer a moment of recognition and reflection.
