The Schiessentümpel is a famous waterfall in the Mullerthal region of Luxembourg. The waterfall is formed by the confluence of two streams, the Black Ernz and the White Ernz, which flow through the wooded area of Mullerthal. The Schiessentümpel is a popular tourist destination in Luxembourg and is often regarded as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country.
The name "Schiessentümpel" comes from the Luxembourgish word "Schiessen" meaning "shooting" and "Tümpel" meaning "pond". The waterfall is named after the nearby mill, which was once used for grinding grain and had a shoot where the water from the mill was discharged into the pond below.
Today, the Schiessentümpel is a popular hiking destination that can be reached via a scenic route that winds through the wooded hills and valleys of Mullerthal. From different vantage points you have a breathtaking view of the waterfall from where this photo was also taken.
