A hut tree, also known as a pasture tree, is a tree shaped by grazing (hut). In the past, such trees were particularly common where cattle were herded. However, hut trees were also a common sight in paddocks. They were usually oaks, whose fruit was also eaten by domestic animals.
This beautiful tree can be found at the entrance to the forest nature trail at the foot of the Hustenbach valley in Dillenburg, Niederscheld.
