Odeon of Herodes Atticus – Classical Athens

by Atlas Light Studio

This photograph of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus emphasises the classical side of Athens. Natural stone, historic forms and the clear composition lend the work a timeless character. The location is recognisable without the image being dependent on a tourist context. As such, the work fits well within a collection focusing on Greece, archaeology and classical architecture.

Classical forms and natural stone lend the photograph a serene, almost timeless quality. The composition focuses on sculpture, architecture or a historic space, keeping contemporary distractions out of the frame as much as possible. This ensures that the connection with Greek antiquity remains strong. The work fits well within a series in which history is told primarily through form and material.

The neutral natural stone and sand tones of this series combine well with wood, linen, beige and black. The work suits modern, Mediterranean and classically inspired interiors.
