What an amazing phenomenon this is to see.
The sun had not long set, the night had not yet begun and the Northern Lights were already clearly visible.
Extreme colours, contrast, what a beautiful spectacle.
This picture never ceases to amaze, every time colours seem to be added.
This panorama deserves a nice place.
The Northern Lights, Aurora borealis is created by a solar flare, eruption on the sun.
Then it also has to be pushed towards Earth and with a bit of luck, after 2-3 days or so, there is a chance to see the Northern Lights.
Then, of course, it has to be properly dark, little or no cloud cover, dry etc.
The magnetic particles are then attracted or repelled by the earth.
Also, it is not always visible to the eye.
The visual aspect applies a lot less to a digital camera.
Sometimes nothing or very vaguely something can be seen and then a camera shows that something fantastic is going on.
In this case, the night of 10-11 May 2024, the Northern Lights were quite visible in the Netherlands, even with the naked eye.
In Scandinavia it is much more often visible, in the Netherlands it is almost rarely if ever well visible.
