About ‘The Monastic Life’ by heidi borgart

Do monks have all the time in the world? To what extent are there any similarities with our daily lives?
The importance of a monastery is to live in the here and now and to schedule the day at fixed times. The pace outside the Kloostermuren, however, is constantly increasing. This development is worrying me. With my photo series I show how life is without a busy schedule, with complete dedication. According to many, this subject is outdated and brothers and sisters would only be a marginal phenomenon. But according to me, nothing less is true. More and more young people enter the Monastery or come to rest for a few days. The importance of a Monastery is increasing in my time. What I want to show in the images is peace and quiet and the regularity of getting up, praying, eating and sometimes an appointment outside the door.
Celibacy does not exist since the beginning of Christianity. It was centuries ago
was introduced by the church itself and was to a large extent a socio-economic measure. Until then, priests (and also many Pope) were married, and the money and the goods that were received remained with the death of the priest in the family. Such families could become so richly rich. To prevent this, the priest was imposed celibacy. The priest came loose from the family and money and goods became the property of the church.
Later, this measure was changed to a rule: priests must live in a celibate way,
because they are then more subservient to the community. Whether this

I've been photographing for a year or 10. And since I did the training in Amsterdam, I started photographing the business market more and more. For example for profile photos, another time for a brochure, website, newsletter or publicity photo.
I also want to make my own work as soon as I have time for it, or when I am in town, like for example Rome. That work seems fantastic to be able to sell here.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
