There are quite a lot of Heck cattle on the Hellegatsplaat nature reserve. What fantastic cattle they are. A bit primitive to look at, impressive even. When I look at these cattle, a kind of peace comes over me. Wonderfully relaxed in the sun, gnawing a bit where I can reach them, that must feel good.... The Heck cattle, Bos domesticus, named after two brothers, Heinz and Lutz heck, almost 100 years ago. I used to pass by here regularly and would see the Heck cattle walking, standing, lying down or grazing. No fearful animals, just relaxing through the day. The soft spring colours give me something that makes me keep looking at this image.
