About the artwork
I always think architecture looks great in black and white. Especially the lines often stand out better then especially if it is photographed in a busy city.
What struck me here was the round shape of the library with the square residential towers behind it.
That the square in front of it, from the central station to the library, is a dark colour was a gift to my black-and-white photo :-)
A nice quiet part of The Hague right behind the busy city centre.
It is the national library of the Netherlands. As I read on Wikipedia, everything that appears about the Netherlands is collected here, going back to the Middle Ages. Some 7 million publications are apparently stored there. You can hardly imagine.
About Marianne van der Zee
Who am I, a small intro:
Once started as an architecture photographer with Robert Oerlemans as my photography docent at the art academy in The Hague.
Later followed by a 4-year art study "visual" at the UCK in Utrecht and a screen printing course at the CKE in Eindhoven.
