He was born of a stage production. A grotesque and lucid figure, he embodies the age when even poverty has to show itself, when humility is disguised as bling-bling. His gold tooth is not a piece of jewellery, but an ironic reminder that wealth can be fake, that it can coexist with misery. Her damaged tooth is the visible scar, the stigma that can no longer be hidden. Together, they say that the body itself has become a showcase, that the tired donkey is forced to play the role of "show-off".

His lowered ears bend under the weight of this masquerade. They are not weakness, but a sign of resignation: he accepts to take part in the social fair, while revealing its absurdity. His heavy gaze is not seduction, but observation. He observes the shift in rituals: charity replaced by consumerism, discreet giving transformed into performance, the memory of the poor swallowed up by the spectacle.

The Grey of Contradictions is not a decorative animal. It is the donkey-prophet of our time, displaying its stigmata to denounce exhibition itself. By showing himself, he reveals the trap: we live in a society where everything must be visible, even the fragile, even the unworthy. He is both clown and witness, ridiculous and sacred, an ironic mirror of our contradictions.

This work is a ceremony of visibility. It says: "I carry poverty and opulence in the same mouth. I bend under the weight of contradictions, but I keep walking. And if I expose myself, it's so that you can see what you don't want to see."

The Grey of Contradictions is the shadow of Saint Nicholas. Where the saint protected the poor in silence, the donkey shows off poverty disguised as a spectacle. Where charity was discreet, the donkey shows off the fairground. He is the embodied memory of what we have disguised, and the tired witness of an era when humility itself has to put on a show in order to exist.
