About ‘The Grand Brandaris’ by Marc-Jan
The grandeur of the Netherlands’ oldest lighthouse on Terschelling. The lighting in this analogue photograph and the absence of colour make the lighthouse appear as a colossus overlooking the Wadden Sea and the North Sea, guiding seafarers safely back to their home port. And it has been doing so for over 500 years.

I’m a video editor by trade and have been working with moving images for 25 years. As a result, I’m used to how movement on screen and the sequence of shots tell a story.
The beauty of photography is that a single image can convey an entire story or capture a whole atmosphere. That is what I try to capture. Until recently, I did this for myself and my family, but now I have taken the plunge in the hope that I am not the only one who can enjoy these photographs.
