Group of mossy tree trunks in a foggy mountain forest. This image was made on the same day as "Faerie Musings" and in the same small patch of woodland. All the trees in this area were completely mossy, the forest floor cradled my footsteps when walking on it and without exception these were all trees that were gnarly and no longer alive. They did provide life to moss and mushrooms though and they looked incredibly magical in the fog. I liked how the lines of these trees diverge towards the top of the image as if they are moving away from each other. In the background, in the fog, you the stronger trees of this woodland are just visible; taller pine trees that are more flexible in the wind than these brittle mossy grey beech trees
