About the artwork

The Tweemanspolder Mill No.4 is a ground-sailer near Zevenhuizen. The mill was built in 1722 to drain the Katgespolder and the Swanlasche polder, both of which had been drained into lakes. Since the Katgespolder was reclaimed, the mill has been part of the Tweemanspolder quadrangle as an upper mill. The mill is equipped with a paddle wheel with a diameter of 5.95 m. In 1953, the four-course mill was decommissioned and the mills came into the possession of the Stichting Molenviergang Tweemanspolder. The mill is occupied and cannot be visited.

The Molenviergang is a mill corridor consisting of four windmills, north of Zevenhuizen on the Rotte river. The mills were built around 1722.

The Molenviergang was built to drain the Tweemanspolder. In 1953, the mills came into the possession of the Stichting tot instandhouding van de molenviergang van de Tweemanspolder. In 1950, the scoop wheel of one of the mills was replaced by a centrifugal pump, which, however, was not satisfactory. This replacement created an imbalance in the quadrant. However, during a restoration in 2009/2010, this mill was again fitted with a slightly more deepened scoop wheel, so the balance is better again. For drainage of the polder, the mills were decommissioned in 1953. They are millable and run twice a month on Saturdays. There are no visiting facilities.
