The bridge was completed in November 2013. The name of the bridge is based on the crossing of the Allies during the 2nd World War as part of Operation Market Garden. This crossing on September 20, 1944 led to the liberation of Nijmegen. The name of the bridge is a tribute to the Allies.
I find the bridge a beautiful structure and the story associated with the name of the bridge makes it even better for me.
