The Cheerful Little Pig from Porto Mari, Curaçao by Renata Rolefes Art

Porto Mari’s ‘Cheerful Little Pig’ brings one of Curaçao’s most surprising inhabitants to life. A colourful little piglet lies relaxing on the beach next to the well-known Porto Mari sign, one of the island’s most famous beaches. With its curious gaze, cheerful smile and vibrant colours, the painting radiates joy, relaxation and a generous dose of Caribbean charm.

The inspiration for this work comes from the special experience many visitors have when they encounter the piglets of Porto Mari. It remains an unexpected and amusing sight to see these friendly animals thoroughly enjoying the beach and the tropical surroundings. With this painting, I wanted to capture that sense of wonder, humour and holiday spirit. It serves as a reminder that the most beautiful memories are often created by the most unexpected encounters.

The painting is built up from multiple layers of acrylic paint, applied with palette knives and expressive brushstrokes. The rich texture, bold contour lines and explosion of cheerful colours give the little pig a playful look full of character. The splashes of paint and colourful accents enhance the energy and make the work modern, lively and unique.

Porto Mari’s ‘Cheerful Little Pig’ instantly brings a smile and a tropical holiday feeling to any interior. It is a real eye-catcher for lovers of Curaçao, animals and colourful art with a touch of humour. Whether you’ve been to Porto Mari yourself or simply love art that radiates cheerfulness and positivity, this painting will bring a sunny feeling to your day, day after day.
