"Ceylon hula man" in Sri Lanka refers to the Tufted Gray Langur (grey hula man), an indigenous species of monkey also called the Grey langur or Hoelman. The name "Ceylon" is an old colonial name for Sri Lanka, which became a republic in 1972. The Ceylon hula is a common species found in dry forests and human areas on the island, especially in archaeological areas such as Polonnaruwa and Dambulla.
