About the artwork
Artistic Cartographer 'Ricardo Bouman' paints world maps, maps and cityscapes and this time he has chosen to immortalise his favourite Dutch holiday destination as a painted map in watercolour.
Using a satellite photo as reference, he began illustrating and painting the map in a large 60x140cm format in late 2018. Most of the map is painted in watercolour. These include the meadows and dunes. The coastline (beach and surf) are painted in oil. All roads are drawn in with a black waterproof fineliner.
This map is illustrated entirely by hand and has an illustrative look that fits nicely into many different interior styles. All around the map is white, so all attention is focused on the map.
Ricardo took over six months to paint this artwork.
The work has been photographed in high resolution so that it is available as an art print.
