Port of Antwerp-Bruges smoothly receives 'the world's largest container ships. With a good draught and clever use of tides, the port is accessible to vessels up to 23 000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU).
TEU is a standard size and means there is storage space on a container ship for 23 000 20-foot sea containers. The fixed size of the containers has a big advantage. As a result, the containers fit on ocean-going vessels, trucks, barges and rail cars.
