In Palenque, Mexico, een beetje afgezonderd op de grens van de jungle en het vrijgemaakte gebied, staat dit wat atypische en mysterieuze gebouwtje, dat de Tempel van het Bladerenkruis genoemd werd. De tempel werd gebouwd ter gelegenheid van de troonsbestijging van Maya koning K'inich K'an B'alam II, de opvolger van Pakal.
