This is the central Buddha image in the main consecration hall (Phra Ubosot) of the world-famous temple complex Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha) in Bangkok, Thailand.
This particular statue is known as Phra Buddha Deva Patimakorn. Important details about this site
King Rama I: This golden Buddha statue in a meditative posture was brought here by King Rama I from an older temple in Thonburi. The king’s ashes are interred beneath the statue’s feet.
The nine-tiered parasol: Above the statue hangs a ceremonial nine-tiered parasol (Phra Maha Swetha Chatra), symbolising the highest royal sovereignty.
Murals: The walls behind and around the altar are entirely covered with detailed, traditional murals from the early Rattanakosin period, depicting stories from the life of the Buddha and Buddhist cosmology.
