The Valencia region of Spain is a true citrus region. To give you an idea, in 2022 there were about 94,000 hectares of orange trees, 65,000 hectares of tangerines and 15,000 hectares of lemon trees in the region. So many that I can't imagine.
The peak harvest there for mandarins is in the months of April to July. But in the first few months of the year, harvesting also takes place. Of course, also for home consumption and you can see this immediately when you go to a village market.
I saw these tangerines in the village north-west of Valencia, Benaguasil. The market there had a stall full of tangerines. Fresh and fresh orange with a green leaf here and there on the fruit. You can't get them juicier and fresher than these. You could smell the fruit if you were near the stall.
Naturally, we bought a few and I can tell you they were as delicious as they look.
