About ‘Taj Mahal - India’ by Rene van Heerdt

That morning at the Taj Mahal started early. At 5.35am, I was already at the gate. The air was heavy and warm, even at that hour. You could feel that the day was setting in, even before the sun really became visible.

When the gates opened, I walked in with other early visitors. There were people, sure. But because of the huge scale of the complex, they hardly stood out. Everything breathed space. Wide paths, large water features, a symmetry that automatically draws your gaze to the centre. As a result, the presence of others almost dissolved into the whole.

The Taj Mahal itself lay there quietly, almost unfazed. The marble had a soft, matte appearance and slowly changed tone as the light grew stronger. In the water feature in front of it, the reflection remained surprisingly taut. Occasionally, someone walked through the scene, but rarely distractingly. It didn't feel crowded, just shared.

I could stand, look, reframe. The size of the place gave space to distance myself, literally and figuratively. That made it possible to experience peace, even with others around you.

Later, everything would fill up and the heat would assert itself. But at this early hour, there was balance. Enough life to make it real, enough space to make it feel quiet. That is precisely what made this moment so special.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
