At the heart of Wat Phatthat Si Khottabong temple, this gilded door immediately catches the eye with its splendour and ornamentation. Two elephants in bas-relief frame divine scenes, with celestial figures and Buddhas. Each element is rich in symbolism: the elephant, symbol of wisdom and strength, and the Buddhas, guides to enlightenment. The meticulous workmanship of the carved wood, overlaid with gold, reflects the ancestral skills of Laotian craftsmen. This door marks a separation between the profane world and the sacred space. It embodies both the beauty of religious art and the depth of Buddhist faith.
