Swans are large birds with a long neck. They are heavy and take off with difficulty. When they take off, they flap their legs and beat their wings vigorously. They walk with a waddling gait. They mostly feed on water plants, which they look for in shallow water. Their long neck is very useful. If there is a lack of plants, swans will also eat small fish such as roaches.
