A few times a year a supermoon can be seen in the Netherlands. A supermoon is a full moon that rises larger and brighter than usual. As a result of the moon's elliptical orbit around Earth, the distance from Earth to the moon usually varies between about 357,000 km and 406,000 km, averaging 384,450 km. The shortest possible distance is 356,400 km. Despite this difference in distance and brightness, the phenomenon is barely visible to the naked eye. I was lucky that a flock of crows was just flying in front of and around the moon when I took the picture. This gives a ghostly effect.
