Sunset on the beach of Paracas, Peru
The bay of Paracas, whose southern end lies in the Paracas National Reserve, is known for its abundant flora and fauna. The unique ecosystem, isolated from wild ocean waves and currents through the Paracas peninsula, and its shallow warmer waters, stimulates a remarkable growth of seaweed for which many of the wild animals, especially the birds of Paracas, thrive directly or indirectly.

In recent years, the bay has welcomed many sailors on catamarans and kitesurfers looking for the flat water and strong winds in the bay.
